When I got back on the air after moving to an antenna restricted community, I decided to get new VHF/UHF gear — it was time to replace the Kenwood TH-F6 and my TM-D700 (though I’m still using the D700 for APRS).
I never had been a fan of Icom gear, but during the pandemic Kenwood pretty much left the ham radio market. So, first I picked-up an ID-5100… and loved it… even though it’s a design that’s almost 10 years old. That encouraged me to also get a ID-50, which I also love.
